CONFERENCE | EXHIBITION | PUBLICATION The series of practice fields of the TASAWAR CURATORIAL STUDIOS is dedicated to the questions of how artists engage with possible futures in times when doubts about the future are increasingly urgent. Climate change, violence, and war, poverty, and hunger are only a few of the problems that do not invoke sufficient action. The series of activities collects and presents voices of the arts that engage with present and future needs. CONFERENCE 23 July 2022 SAT 5:00 – 10:00 pm at CENTRAL Tunis on invitation only. Where Do We Go From Here? On working and living conditions of artists, curators, and art professionals in the SWANA region On 23 July 2022, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm a conference dedicated to artists, curators, and art professionals will take place in the art space CENTRAL in Tunis Downtown. Participation is possible by invitation only. Adham Hafez Jessica El Mal Morehshin Allahyari Reem Aljeally The conference outlines the living and working conditions of artists and curators, and explores contemporary writing practices, mute narratives, and the future of the digital sphere, within the SWANA region. The international and national guest speakers will present an array of engagements on these topics and their perspectives on the current status and possible futures. Three main panels are titled WHAT IS WHERE – WHAT IS HERE and WHAT’S THE STORY EIH EL 7EKAYA! and WHAT IS SPACE CURATION: ARAB FUTURISM. The conference is a hybrid event of panel talks, activities, and movement workshops. The speakers are Safa Attyaoui (TASAWAR Alum, artist from Tunis.tn), Reem Aljeally (artist, curator from Khartum.sd), Jessica El Mal (curator from Morocco/UK), Morehshin Allahyari (Artist, Iran/USA) and Adham Hafez (curator, artist and founder of Wizara from Egypt/USA). Where Do We Go From Here? Is a collaborative curational conference by the TASAWAR COLLECTIVE with Achraf Remok, Cyrine Ghrissi, and Marwa Benhalim. The conference is a parallel program to TASAWAR EXHIBITION Where Do We Go From Here? From 28 to 31 July 2022 in Bir Lahjar in the Medina of Tunis. EXHIBITION 28 – 31 July 2022 THU – SUN 8:00 pm to Midnight at BIR LAHJAR Open to all audiences Where Do We Go From Here? On possible futures From 28 to 31 July 2022, in the evening from 8:00 pm to Midnight, a selection of different media artworks will be on display in BIR LAHJAR in the Medina of Tunis. Access is free for all audiences. In different ways, and with different perspectives and formats; the exhibition looks at how we can speculate upon the future of our habitat. Each curator brings a different angle from disparate artists who explore a certain possible narrative interrogating the here” state and its outcome and impact on nature, habitat, and environment. The curated collection of media artworks laces an itinerary that takes visitors on a journey to reflect and question issues and topics that stretch from our current present to the possibility of affecting our daily lives. The TASAWAR Media Art Project will take place in parallel with the INTERFERENCE YOUNG MASTERS Exhibition. It is supported by the Goethe-Institut Tunis. PUBLICATION No posts found.
